My name is Mesfin Abegaz, and I've called Minnesota home for 19 years. I grew up in Richfield, MN, and outside of photography, you'll find me playing basketball (Go Wolves!), gaming, or exploring new places.
My passion for photography started at 14 when my dad handed me his old DSLR. What began as shooting my friends and our local high school basketball games quickly evolved into something bigger. I dove into Adobe Creative Cloud and started cranking out music videos, sports highlights, and creative portraits, just trying to see what was possible.
My real introduction to the industry came as a photo booth operator. Yeah, that guy by the booth hyping people up about poses and angles. What made it special was watching people's faces light up when the prints came out. They'd just created a memory they'd treasure forever, something tangible to hold onto and display in their homes. That feeling became everything.
Today, I run Elite Capture Studio, a full-scale photography operation here in Minneapolis. I've expanded into weddings, headshots, and corporate work, building genuine partnerships with local businesses along the way. But at the core, it's still the same drive: creating moments people want to remember and experiences they'll talk about for years to come.
